How to get here
The Conham ferry is operated by Beese’s across the river Avon, and is available during opening hours (river conditions permitting - check our Twitter feed for the latest updates). There is a nominal charge of 25p each way for adults, children, buggies and bikes - dogs go free!
You can park in the Conham Road car park (click on the big P on the map below for directions) and follow the riverbank round to our steps. Ring our rudimentary bell or ring us (0117 977 7412) and we’ll come and get you. The car park closes at 10:00 p.m. every evening apart from Fridays and Saturdays when it closes at 11:30 p.m. (until the end of September).
Beese’s is at the bottom of an unadopted lane (that means it’s bumpy), where there are a limited number of parking places (and this space is reduced if it’s been raining). You may prefer to park in Eastwood Crescent or Eastwood Road. The lane is marked “To Conham Ferry”, and is most easily accessed by turning into Eastwood Crescent from Broomhill Road. Go down to the end, and turn right just before the bollards into Wyndham Crescent. The entrance to the lane is ten yards down on the left.Below is a map with a route from the A4 (Bath Road).

You can also catch the number 1 bus, getting off outside the Good Intent pub. Walk downhill from there, and you will see the lane going through the park (it takes less than five minutes to get here).
And of course, you can come by boat, perhaps with one of the ferry companies. You can find contact details for all the companies that run trips to Beese’s on our links page. There are weekly public trips to Beese’s from the city centre, and all the companies listed have boats available for charter.
If you have your own craft you can use our moorings, although you will need to be prepared to move off temporarily if one of the larger charter boats is due in. We sometimes are asked by boaters if they can moor overnight. Here’s the skinny.
Conditions of mooring
- Despite being twelve miles from the Avon estuary, Beese’s is subject to several tides a year, and so we may have to say “No” because you probably don’t want your boat to end up on our jetty, and frankly, neither do we. Who wants to see your dirty bottom?
- If we do give you permission to moor, we won’t charge you, but we do expect a certain level of consideration. Like not letting your dog out in the morning to crap in the garden. It’s happened.
- If we do give you permission to moor, all occupants are subject to the Beese’s terms and conditions of booking.
- If we do give you permission to moor, you can only leave outside of our opening hours the way you arrived, i.e. by boat.
